It is important for you to know that the cost of your studies in Canada will be exactly what your budget allows. We will give you some reference prices and some average costs, however, remember that you are the one who knows your finances, your lifestyle and you will be the one who will finally decide how much your education in Canada will cost. What is the cost of tuition:
In Canada each province and each city has different living costs, therefore, some institutions cost more or less according to the region you are in, however in our experience tuition can be as low as 7,500 Canadian dollars and as high as 23,000 Canadian dollars per year for international students. The cost will depend on the area of study and the institution.
Some institutions with a long tradition in the country tend to have higher costs, however, this is not a rule. Some institutions have agreements, scholarships or grants for students of some nationalities or specific regions, so do not forget to ask if the program you are interested in has any of these grants.
Cost of living.
Once again the cost of living depends on your lifestyle, however, we have found that some students can live with a monthly budget of 1380 Canadian dollars, but this is a very tight figure and the lifestyle is quite austere. Depending on the city you wish to study in, a budget that varies between $1500 and $2200 per month will allow you to have a slightly more comfortable lifestyle and enjoy some of the most attractive experiences in Canada.
Work while you study.
One of the attractions of studying in Canada is the possibility of working part-time while you study. Part-time means up to 20 hours per week. To give you an idea of how much this represents in money, the minimum wage is around 13 Canadian dollars per hour depending on the region, so a person earning minimum wage could earn around 1040 dollars per month, only for salary. If the job includes tips or other benefits, this figure may increase.
Attention! Remember that in Canada taxes are withheld from your salary. Many people are surprised when they receive their first paycheck and see that approximately 35% of their salary has been deducted, therefore, of the $1040 mentioned above, you will probably only see about $680 in your account.
